Pre-Charting on Empathia AI

Overview:

Many doctors use Empathia AI as a pre-charting tool to add clinical history, prior lab results, patient intake, and other relevant information to the note before seeing the patient. Follow these steps to efficiently use Empathia AI for pre-charting based on your preferred platform:

EMMA Toolkit + SMART Summary Capture 

Empathia AI includes the EMMA Toolkit, allowing clinicians to interact with Emma, an AI assistant designed to support pre-charting tasks. With Emma, you can:

• Pull current medications from past records

• Summarize patient intake

• Summarize referral letters and consult notes

• Extract relevant insights from uploaded documents or previous encounters

• Use the Smart Summary screen capture to highlight key patient information in one view

Pre-Charting with the Empathia Chrome Extension

1. Dictate in the Notepad:

   • Open the Notepad and click the "Mic" icon to start dictating.
   • Summarize any clinical history, lab results, or information you’d like to include in the note.

2. Import Previous Medical History:

   • Copy and Paste: Add any relevant medical history by copying it into the "Notepad/Past Records" section.
   • Upload PDFs or Images: You can also upload PDFs or images of patient intake, lab results or medical history for the AI to summarize

3. Screen Capture

   • You can capture a portion or the entire screen, on a web page or your desktop.

   • Once you select the section you need, click "Confirm". AI will summarize the information on the screen.
     4. Click on "Generate Draft Summary" to create an AI summary of the document.

4. Save as Draft Encounter:

   • When finished, click "Generate Draft Summary" to save the pre-charted information as a draft.

5. Resume Recording During the Visit:

   • When you’re ready to begin the patient encounter, go to the "Encounter List" in Empathia AI, and resume recording to capture current visit details.

Pre-Charting with the Empathia Mobile App

1. Start the Recording: Begin a recording session before the patient visit to document any pre-charting details.
2. Pause to Save as Draft: Use the "Pause" button to save the recording as a draft encounter
3. Manage Draft Encounters: In the "Encounters List," paused recordings will appear with a blue pause icon. Tap the "Mic" icon to resume each recording at any time.
