Patient Profile

Created by Lila Sun, Modified on Thu, 24 Apr at 2:02 PM by Lila Sun

The Patient Profile feature is designed to enhance clinical efficiency by allowing physicians to review a patient's prior visit details—directly within the Empathia recording window. No more navigating through separate charts or sifting through multiple notes; you can complete your pre-visit preparation in just minutes.

Why We Built This

Physicians often manage a high volume of patients, encountering some individuals multiple times over days, weeks, or even months. Reviewing a patient's medical history—including lab results, medications, and care plans—is critical to effective clinical decision-making. The Patient Profile feature changes this time consuming process into a single step - making it easy to get up to speed without interrupting your workflow.

To maintain compliance with patient privacy regulations, the feature uses a secure matching system based solely on non-sensitive identifiers such as name, age, and sex. No other personally identifiable health information (PHI) is accessed or stored in the matching process.

How To Guide

1. Click on the "New Encounter" button on the home page

2. In the New Recording window, type the name of the patient whose records you would like to review.

3. If there are more than one exact matches to the same name, you will see a list appear, with additional details like their age, gender (if available) & the date of the most recent visit. Once you select the correct patient from the list, the most recent encounter note will appear directly in the past records section.

4. Once you review the information, you can continue your charting process by typing any updates in the Notepad or start the patient encounter by clicking on Start Recording.

5. Once the recording is completed, a SOAP note is generated, which will incorporate relevant details from the past records.

Best Practices and Tips

1. Ensure to enter your patient's name, age & gender when creating an encounter with a patient for the first time. This will create an accurate record for the patient.

2. Review the information in the past records to ensure it's accuracy, in case of common names or incorrect spellings.

Coming Soon

1. Ability to review a chronological sequence of encounters instead of only a single past encounter record
2. Quick review insights page, for changes in labs, medications, allergies, etc.
