Why We Built This
Copying and pasting across EMR fields can be tedious—especially for complex charts or detailed patient records. We’ve heard this frustration from clinicians time and again. That’s why we built EMMA toolkit, Empathia’s Smart Extension-Based Integration: the first browser AI toolkit of its kind designed to simplify chart prep, reduce manual steps, and work with any web-based EMR.
Even without direct API access, you can use Empathia to pull, summarize, and fill patient information with just a click. It’s fast, flexible, and designed to save you time—while maintaining accuracy and control.
With Empathia AI, interoperability becomes a reality. Our integration enables bi-directional data flow so you can streamline documentation, automate admin tasks, and stay focused on delivering great care.
We Offer Two Integration Modes in Empathia AI:
1) Smart Extension-Based Integration (EMMA Toolkit)
2) API-Based Integrations (Seamless & Native)
With Empathia's integration options, you can:
- Seamlessly import referrals, consults, or past medical records into your patient workflow.
- Auto-generate draft notes with pre-filled histories and structured data.
- Fill out patient forms (e.g., follow-ups, requisitions, sick notes) with a single click.
- Use AI-powered summarization to condense long PDFs or scanned files.
- Transfer generated notes into respective fields to match your EMR's formatting.
1. Smart Extension-Based Integration (EMMA Toolkit)
Using our EMMA Smart Toolkit via browser extension, you can:
- AutoPull: Automatically pull relevant patient data from e-faxes, scanned files, uploaded PDFs, and lab results for summarization. Summarize, or transfer data directly from EMRs using a simple “Scan Page” option.
- AutoFill: Automatically fill in clinical forms, chart notes, and patient data fields in any web-based EMR.
- Capture Page (web/desktop): Capture part or all of your screen—from EMRs, web pages, or desktops—and generate instant summaries or transfer data, without extra steps of downloading files.

How-To Guide for Smart Extension-Based Integration (EMMA Toolkit)
Download the Empathia Google Chrome Extension from the Google Chrome Store. After installation, login with your Empathia account to get started.
Login to your web based EMR & go to the relevant patient file.
Click on the EMMA Icon on the Chrome extension to launch the EMMA Smart Toolkit.
From the top of the chat box, launch the autofill tool.
The Autofill tool has 2 tabs - go to the encounters tab to find a list of all your patient encounters.
Find the matching patient encounter as the one open in your EMR. Click on Autofill Form - this will push the information from Empathia directly into your EMR. It fills any relevant fields on the form in your EMR, including patient chart notes, lab & imaging requisitions, patient profile, etc.
Calling Champion Users!
We are inviting Champion Empathia AI physicians who are interested in integrating their EMR, to try out the Autofill feature in their existing web based EMRs - no additional set up or access required. Reach out to support@empathia.ai for any questions or feedback. Make sure to include your EMR name, a quick summary of the issue, and any relevant screenshots.
