Overview: Empathia allows you to create multiple clinics with specific sub-specialties, helping tailor your notes to better reflect the needs of each patient population. This not only improves note quality but also ensures that you manage patients more effectively by leveraging the appropriate clinical context.


Why Set Up Sub-Specialties?

  • Improved Accuracy: Empathia uses the "Specialty" as input to customize notes, and make them more relevant and detailed when documentation reflects the unique aspects of each specialty.
  • Better Manage Patient: Each clinic can focus on its specific field, making it easier to document and manage cases.


Example Specialties to Set Up:

  • Family Medicine + Pain Medicine: Create clinics for general practice and pain management to ensure detailed documentation specific to chronic pain patients.
  • Family Medicine + Emergency Medicine: Track urgent care visits separately from routine check-ups to ensure faster, focused notes for emergencies.
  • Family Medicine + Physiotherapy: For behavioral health needs, set up a clinic where therapy notes are properly formatted, addressing mental health and therapy sessions.
  • Family Medicine + Dermatology: Manage patients with skin conditions by setting up a dermatology clinic for targeted dermatologic exams and treatments.


Steps to Set Up Sub-Specialties in Empathia:

  1. Access Your Account: Log in to Empathia and go to the Profile Settings section.
  2. Create a New Clinic: Navigate to the "Clinics" page and click on "Add New Clinic."
  3. Choose a Specialty: Select the primary specialty for the new clinic from the drop-down list.
  4. Set Up Additional Clinics: Repeat the process for each sub-specialty you'd like to set up (e.g., family medicine, pain medicine, emergency medicine).
  5. Assign Patients to Clinics: When seeing patients, assign them to the appropriate clinic, ensuring that their documentation aligns with the relevant specialty.


View Patients in One Clinic:

  • You can easily switch between clinics by selecting the clinic name from the main dashboard.
  • Each clinic will have its own specialized visit type and note templates, ensuring that you capture the right information for each patient’s condition.



By setting up sub-specialties in Empathia, you enhance both your note-taking precision and patient care management, allowing you to provide the best care for each unique patient case.
