Voice AI - Patient Pre-visit Assessment

Overview

EMMA’s Voice AI patient intake feature is one of few tools designed to optimize your pre-visit workflow. Leveraging your existing intake questionnaires, EMMA collects relevant patient information through natural, conversational interactions. This feature significantly reduces the time needed for information gathering, providing you with a reliable, comprehensive summary to support confident decision-making.


Why We Built This:

Gathering information for a new patients or for patients that are not seen regularly can be time consuming and tedious. This is often done by patients themselves filling up forms or a medical assistant or nurse leading to higher operational costs and even omissions & errors.


Using an AI-driven assistant ensures that the patient or a caregiver has enough time to recollect or gather necessary information at home, before going to the clinic. It does not require special technical equipment or training, patients can conduct it using their mobile devices or tablets. 


How-To Guide

  1. Click on the drop down menu on the New Encounter button to launch the AI Pre-Visit Feature.

    

    2. Select a form and you will see a link generated. Enter the patient's name to proceed. (Here we use "Annual Wellness Visit Questionaire" as an example, you can also work with us to create your own Patient Intake Questionnaire templates.

    

3. Send the invite to your patient by directly copying the link or sending an email

4. Once the patient clicks on the link, they will be directed to a page like the one below. The interaction continues in a conversational format, and begins by verifying the patient information like name and DOB. 


5. EMMA will ask open ended questions related to the information that needs to be gathered. She will ask clarifying questions to make sure the information is captured correctly.


6. Once the process is completed, patients can click “Finish” to end the conversation

7. A summary report will be generated and will appear as a “Draft” in the clinician’s portal and Chrome extension.

8. You can review the information prior to your consultation with the patient and continue with your encounter as usual.


Tips for Best Results

  1. Ensure that the patient understands that they will be speaking to an AI assistant for the purpose of assessment only and no medical advice can be provided.
  2. The patient needs to have access to a phone or a device with internet connectivity to be able to use this feature.
  3. The patient needs to able to click on a screen as part of the conversation.
