Create a Note without a Recording

Physicians often need to create notes without a corresponding recording—whether summarizing prior inpatient visits, documenting a medication refill, or capturing clinical impressions after a sensitive conversation. Notes may also be required following upload of test results, discharge summaries, or even conducting brief physical exams. With Empathia, the absence of a dictation or a recording no longer limits your ability to generate accurate, timely documentation. 

How To Guide -


On the Web Portal
1. In the New Recording page, type, copy/paste or dictate relevant information into the notepad. The Save without Recording button will appear at the bottom of the page. 


2. Click on the option "Save without Recording" & Click "ok" on the dialog box that appears next




3. Review the SOAP note in your encounters


On the Chrome Extension

1. Similar to the web portal, start typing any relevant information in the notepad. You can also upload files to Smart Summary on the extension. 


2. Click on the arrow next to Start Recording & then click on the option "Save without Recording"


3. A SOAP note will be generated in your encounters. 


FAQs & Tips

1. What is the difference between Generate Draft Summary & Save Without Recording?

A. Generating a Draft Summary is used as a way to pre-chart prior to the patient encounter. The output Draft note will highlight any abnormal labs or test results, to help you prepare for the patient visit. Save without Recording generates a complete SOAP note


2. Can I apply a template to such a note?

A. Yes, you can select a template before you click on Save without Recording to generate a note in the format of your preference.


3. Can I add more information later to this note?

A. Yes, you can use the Supplementary Recording method to add any information to the existing note.
